Formed in 1749, the township was abundant with natural resources. Known as the “Mountain Colony,” the community retains its early character through its carefully preserved homes, farm buildings, and villages.

Decades upon decades the families of Mendham, NJ continue to reside within our boundaries. Early settlement became known as Ralston, after the enterprising Ralston family—just northeast of Ralston is Indian Brook.
